The Registry contains information that Windows continually references during operation, such as profiles for each user, the applications installed on the computer and the types of documents that each can create, property sheet settings for folders and application icons, what hardware exists on the system, and the ports that are being used.
The Registry replaces most of the text-based .ini files that are used in Windows 3.x and MS-DOS configuration files, such as the Autoexec.bat and Config.sys. Although the Registry is common to several Windows operating systems, there are some differences among them. A registry hive is a group of keys, subkeys, and values in the registry that has a set of supporting files that contain backups of its data. The supporting files for all hives except HKEY_CURRENT_USER are in the %SystemRoot%\System32\Config folder on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Vista. The supporting files for HKEY_CURRENT_USER are in the %SystemRoot%\Profiles\Username folder. The file name extensions of the files in these folders indicate the type of data that they contain. Also, the lack of an extension may sometimes indicate the type of data that they contain.
The navigation area of Registry Editor displays folders. Each folder represents a predefined key on the local computer. When you access the registry of a remote computer, only two predefined keys appear: HKEY_USERS and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
To restore the whole registry, restore the system state from a backup. For more information about how to restore the system state from a backup, see How to use Backup to protect data and restore files and folders on your computer in Windows XP and Windows Vista.
The Wise Folder Lock Adware is promoted as a program that allows you to secure a folder by locking it with a password. In reality, Wise Folder Lock will install adware programs that display a constant stream of advertisements in the user's default browser.
%UserProfile% refers to the current user's profile folder. By default, this is C:\Documents and Settings\ for Windows 2000/XP, C:\Users\ for Windows Vista/7/8, and c:\winnt\profiles\ for Windows NT.
Whether on your own computer or a public one, we always have some important or privacy-related files and data that do not want others to see or get. In this case, what we can do is to use some software to protect them in primarily five ways: monitoring (passive), hiding (junior), locking (can be easily hacked by advanced computer users), password protecting (ditto), encrypting (the safest, but not convenient).

In addition, Folder Password Lock Pro also comes with folder monitoring and file encryption these two additional functions. The former allows you to monitor all operations made to the specified folder and record every operation for later review at any time. For the latter, once some file is encrypted, no one can modify or view it except you.

This section describes possibilities to select the location where registration information will be stored on the user's computer. Registration information refers to the couple of strings - the registration name and registration key. Registration information is stored in the user's system without being encrypted. This means that it can be accessible for viewing. If you do not use the features of The Enigma Protector for the license creation (for registration keys generation), the data entered in those fields will be ignored by The Enigma Protector.
Encrypt Registration Information - allows you to encrypt registration information. If the option is disabled, registration information (the name and key) will be stored in a registry/file as they are. For example, the file with the registration information, without the Encrypt Registration Information feature, will look in the following way:
Disable copy of the registration information to another PC (the registration information will be encrypted with the user's Hardware ID) - this option allows you to encrypt registration information with the user's hardware ID as well. If the registration information is encrypted with the hardware ID, the registry item or file with registration information will work and will be valid only on the PC where it was created. If the user attempts to copy this registry item or file to another PC, registration will fail on this PC. Please note: 2ff7e9595c
